With summer and hot days fast approaching its important to keep in mind vaping safety when it’s hot. Here are some summer vaping tips to help you have a great summer.
Prepare for an adventure
If you’re anything like me inspiration can hit at anytime and you’ll be off like a rocket. Keep spare batteries charged and ready to go in case you decide to head out on the spur of the moment, you could be gone for a while. If you have spare batteries ready to go then pop them in a battery case and chuck them in your bag.
Extra eJuice is important on an adventure, last thing you want to do is run out of juice. But do be aware not to leave them in a hot car while you’re enjoying the day out and about. Heat is a sure fire way to kill your eJuice quickly.
Have a clean cloth on hand
A summer vaping tip you might not have thought of before is that summer adventures can, more often than not, involve swimming, either at the beach or at a pool. Or just being hot a sweaty depending on what you’re doing. Have a clean cloth close so you can wipe over your mod/device in cases where it may get a bit damp from water or sweat. Especially if you’re at the beach you don’t want any salty water getting on or in your mod and starting an early rusting process.
eJuice flavour and colour can change if it gets too hot
As previously mentioned for summer vaping tips, you don’t want to leave your eJuice in a car for hours on a hot summers days. We all know how quickly the temperature can rise in a locked car in summer. This will effect your eJuice flavour and colour before you know it. If you add nicotine to your juice it will discolour to a considerably darker yellow/brown colour. Nothing kills nicotine quicker than heat.
Don’t charge batteries in a hot car
One of the most important summer vaping tips is not to charge your batteries or mod in a hot car for long periods of time. Over heating batteries is dangerous and can lead to them malfunctioning. Never ever leave batteries in direct sunlight or somewhere they will be exposed to high temps. Battery packs or portable charging options are readily available for very affordable prices. Of course if you’re driving around with the air con on then charge those batteries so they are ready to go when you get to your destination.
Have extra coils ready to go
With the hot weather potentially affecting the quality of eJuice it is quite possible that coils will burn out quicker, especially if you’re vaping sweetened juices. Heat may cause the sugars to caramelise and give you a slight burnt taste. You will probably be changing your coil more regularly than normal.
Try different eJuice flavours
I love this summer vaping tip. Why not use this hot weather to try some new flavours, something fresh and light can help you get into the summer theme too. Menthol and cooling juices are great for a fresh hit on a hot day, or maybe some summer fruits will be more refreshing. Plus reducing the sweetness of your juice might just get a little bit more out of your coil on hot day’s.
As we all know when eJuice gets warm it becomes thinner which, in turn, may lead to a leaking tank that hasn’t leaked before. If you notice this happening to you it might be time to change the o-ring seals on your tank or consider increasing the VG percentage of your eJuice to thicken it up a bit. If your tank has been a bit of leaky mess for a while it might be time to consider getting a new or different tank. Nothing worse than diving into your bag and getting a wet surprise when your tank has leaked through everything, especially if your phone is in there too.
Rebuildables aren’t excluded from leaking in the heat
If you are finding your rebuildable tanks are also leaking during the heat, try adding more cotton to your wicking process to soak up the thinner eJuice. Again a higher VG percentage could help thicken the liquid enough to stop it leaking.
Vape supply bags or cases
Here’s a cool summer vaping tip.Why not put all your vaping gear into a small cooler bag or lunch box with a cooling block (from the fridge will be ample, no need to use a frozen block) this will ensure nothing gets too hot. A few bucks on a cooler or lunch box could save a lot of drama later on.
If you are needing to put your mod/device down try to do so in the shade and not in direct sunlight, other than the obvious we’ve been talking about here, most mods are metal and will get damn hot to touch in no time on a 35+ degree day. No one wants to drop it and risk damaging their mod.
Here is a big summer vaping tip, If you are heading overseas on a summer holiday make sure you do your research before you go. In many countries it is illegal to vape and you don’t want to ruin your trip before you even start the holiday. make sure you can take your mod’s, batteries and some juice with you and what is the best way to pack them. Airlines all differ and it will be best to check with them prior to arriving at the airport.
- Remove the batteries and store them in a proper battery case
- Empty the tank of liquid so it doesn’t leak through your luggage
- Store any eJuice in a sealed plastic bag to avoid any leakage
